Your business model is different Visa,MasterCard and Paypal make huge amounts by clipping a tiny percentage off every purchase we make. Lucky them. Microsoft and Adobe make a fortune by charging hundreds for something that costs them less than a dollar to produce. You’re not that lucky. You have to charge hundreds (or thousands) for something that nobody needs, and only a handful of people want. So … what do you do? How much? There are two questions To View More >>

I've just finished re-watching Barry Schwartz's Ted Talk on The Paradox of Choice. He makes this very important point: Too much choice produces paralysis. Offer people too much choice and they'll find it very difficult to choose at all. Yes, at Queensberry we offer a lot of choice! We know that. We do it because every photographer is different. And we agree, as Barry Schwartz says, that it can be difficult to get your head around. But … if you want to sell products, you need to make the effort, not leave it to your customers.  As our designer friend Donna says, to run a design To View More >>

We’ve been thrilled with the response to the Print Shop launch — especially now it’s available on our super-affordable Lifetime plan! — and we love watching your stores go live. We’ve been talking with many users about how we can make it even better. As a result we’ve made a few design changes to elevate your store even more. Even with digital images and online galleries everywhere, the most impressive way to show off your work is with a printed portfolio. A printed book shows more than your photography skills. It expresses your design abilities, your taste in materials and your high standards as an artist. If you're thinking about creating your own portfolio, here are some ideas to get you started. They're not like wedding and portrait albums Sample albums normally mimic what you want to sell. They show prospective clients what to expect, and help them visualise their To View More >>

This week's 'Album of the Week' goes to Ian and Emma from Ian Scott Photography. "We had the pleasure of meeting with Sarah and Ben several times before the wedding day," Emma says. "First at their pre-wedding shoot, then at the studio for newborn photographs of their baby daughter. They were so chilled out we knew we would have a great day capturing their wedding."  The album is a 14x10 Fine Art Flushmount with a Sahara Faux Leather cover. "Their  wedding venue, Offley Place, is a beautiful country house hotel in Great Offley.  A picturesque setting for a wedding To View More >>

We came across this lovely Portrait Album with Photography by John Shetron (US) as it went through the bindery. It's a 12x8 Panorama Flushmount Portrait Album with offset-printed Tintoretto pages and a Carbon Buckram cover. Portrait Albums are great for family photography and to commemorate special days – especially a 90th birthday! Panorama Flushmount pages, with no split at the spine, invite big, bold imagery. This 12x8 album allows for a 12x16 full bleed image. John also sent through a great portrait, "The 90-year-old birthday "boy" on the day of his celebration. Although To View More >>

We normally supply our albums in the standard silver-grey leaf-and-crown presentation box, which is included in the price. But sometimes you need a bit more, which is why we also offer an optional Display Box (pictured). Display Boxes  have been a popular upgrade for years. They're a great add-on to any album order, and now we're offering them for 10x10 albums (previously only 12x12 and larger) and in both Pearl and Carbon Buckram. We also introducing more depth options, so we can make them a snugger fit no matter how many pages in your album.  To View More >>

At-home portrait shoots are an ever-growing trend, and we're completely on board with that. Catherine Cattanach was asked by Gale and her partner Aurelian  to photograph their family as they welcomed little Gala into their lives. Catherine photographed Gala's older sister Aurelia as a newborn, so she was thrilled when Gale and Aurelian asked her back. She spent the morning at their home in Paekakariki, documenting some quality time together. Gala is such a chilled-out little soul, says Catherine, while wee Aurelia was full of beans.  Although Catherine loves her studio To View More >>
